Getting involved with your Police Authority

There are a number of ways you can get involved with your police authority.

Independent Custody Visiting Scheme

We run an Independent Custody Visiting Scheme which sees volunteers go into police custody units to check on the welfare of detainees and the facilities they are held in.

Animal Welfare Scheme

The scheme provides an independent check on the condition and welfare of police dogs in Gwent.

Public Meetings

The police authority conducts a lot of its work through its Committees.  This demonstrates, in a public forum, how we hold the Chief Constable to account for the policing service delivered in Gwent.

Consultation

We run a number of consultation activities throughout the year to inform and involve communities in decision-making about their local police service.

Public Events

An informal way to meet your Members, find out more about the role of the police authority and discuss what matters to you.
